The sixth event of the BADV Companies Network Seminar and Workshop Series took place at Barilla Group, in collaboration with Anadolu Sigorta.

In the “Language Equality” themed sixth event of our Workshop and Seminar Series, which we hold every two months to discuss topics where we need to engage and deepen our understanding together, we gathered to explore this important issue.

The opening remarks were made by Barilla General Manager Murat Koc and BADV Project Coordinator Esen Özdemir. During the event, Anadolu Sigorta Corporate Communication and Sustainability Manager Melis Tutan and Barilla Human Resources Business Partner Ece Karaomeroglu presented on Language Equality and its Fundamental Concepts. The event emphasized that equality starts with language, discussing commonly used gender-biased expressions in the business world and how they can be transformed for non-discriminatory communication.

The event also featured Barilla's “Inclusive Language Guide,” which aims to make the corporate culture more inclusive, as well as an application at Anadolu Sigorta that automatically corrects gender-biased expressions in correspondence. It concluded with an interactive activity that highlighted the privileges individuals possess in life and the structural inequalities that exist.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Barilla for their wonderful hospitality and thoughtful gifts.

The next event in the Workshop and Seminar Series will be in December!
