The book launch event for "Good Practice Examples of BADV Companies in Combating Domestic Violence" took place on November 28, from 10:00 to 11:30, hosted by TÜSİAD in a hybrid format. During the event, we discussed the role of civil society in increasing the number and impact of good practice examples in the field of combating domestic violence, as well as the collaborative efforts between the business world and civil society, with the participation of civil society representatives.
In their opening speeches, Ata Can Bertay, Director of the Corporate Governance Forum at Sabancı University, Yasemin Akis Kalaylıoğlu, Gender Program Coordinator at UNFPA, and Billur Barlın, Chair of the Gender Equality Working Group at TÜSİAD, emphasized how the BADV Project and the Companies Network have paved the way for good practice examples in combating violence against women. They highlighted the importance of establishing sustainable partnerships between civil society organizations and the business sector.
The panel, moderated by Ceren Aydın Ergün, Deputy Secretary General of TÜSİAD, featured Esen Özdemir, BADV Project Coordinator and editor of the book, who shared the various forms of support that companies provide to their employees, including financial, legal, psychological, social, and performance-related assistance, as well as the common principles they adopt in the fight against violence.
Meltem Cantürk, Director of the AÇEV Equal Value Initiative, discussed the collaborations they have established with the private sector and their contributions to combating violence. She emphasized that the approaches of top executives in companies are crucial in this fight and mentioned that they are nurturing "change leaders" within institutions to ensure the sustainability of their efforts.
Irmak Çil Arslan, Projects Director of the Yanındayız Association, noted that their work primarily targets men. She described the projects they carry out in collaboration with local governments, public entities, the private sector, and universities, as well as their awareness-raising activities in different factories.
