BADV Network Webinar Series with Experts Has Begun
The first session of the BADV Network Webinar Series with Experts, titled “Ensuring Gender Equality and Preventing Violence in Times of Disaster and Crisis,” took place on Tuesday, April 11th, from 11:00 to 12:30.
During the webinar, the devastation caused by the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6th was discussed from a gender perspective, featuring insights from experts of three esteemed organizations working in the earthquake-affected region.
Facilitated by the BADV Network Coordinator, İlke İmer, the discussion involved contributions from Eda Özyurt Kılınç, the Gender-Based Violence & Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Specialist at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Elçin Cavlan, the Chief Advisor of the Turkey Women’s Associations Federation (TKDF), and Humanitarian Sector Manager, along with Naz Hıdır, the Gender & Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Specialist at the Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants (SGDD-ASAM). The conversation addressed deepening gender inequality during disaster periods, necessary steps to promote gender equality during such times, experiences of civil society organizations in the field, and collaborations with the private sector in the region.
The Webinar Series with Experts will continue to address topics of mutual interest and deeper exploration identified by members of the Network.
